Bucket List

Wanderlust: the desire to travel
I use to be like many kids…a dreamer. I always wanted to travel, but it did not become reality until about 3 years ago.
The story is, my dad passed away almost 4 years ago and that is when it hit me, life is truly short. We all have a bucket list and I chose to start crossing mine off. I decided to start with the basics, which are school and travel. I want to finish school, so I attend a University and it is my last year. On holiday breaks I travel. Yes, traveling is expensive but that is why I accepted the “backpacker’s lifestyle.” I live on the cheap and stay in hostels. Where have I traveled you ask? Well, I have been to almost all of Central America, Peru, a few Caribbean Islands, and Italy. My adventures abroad are not even close to being over. The next thing on my bucket list that slightly involves traveling is surfing. I was born in Hawaii and I don’t know how to surf. One day I will learn and cross it off my list.

What is on your bucket list?

  1. I don't know what backpacker's lifestyle means... you should elaborate, so I know how to do it. I've seen the movie hostel... isn't that a dangerous way to travel?

  2. Backpackers are people who travel on a budget. The person stays in hostels, which are nothing like the movie. Hostels are usually for young travelers like college students. The rooms available are set up like a dorm with bunk beds and lockers. It is a fun way to travel as long as you are smart about traveling.

  3. What is the average cost for a plane ticket to South America? I'm a college student and want to travel .

  4. I wish I could answer that for you, but it really depends on the season and location. There are some parts of South America that are really popular (i.e. Peru and Brazil) and will cost more to get to. Your best bet would be to decide when and where you want to travel, then look around for good deals on flights. Expect the cheapest flights to be the worst because you probably will not be able to book a non-stop flight for $200. Best of luck to you!

  5. Katarina, thank you for your post! When is your next trip? What country are you going to visit?

  6. I was invited to Costa Rica in October, but I am not sure if I can go because of school. To be completely honest, I book tickets about 2 days beforehand and just show up to the country with a travel book. My next journey is truly unknown and depends on prices/availability of airline tickets.
